Ben & Mike's Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing Adventures is a podcast about the making, not the made: two goofballs who happen to have doctorates, talking about writing and the dread that arrives before it.
Long
Each episode, Ben and Michael sit at the desk and talk shop: world-building, magic systems, naming characters, what an editor really does to a manuscript, and the dread that arrives every morning before the writing does. It all began in 1997, in an undergraduate creative writing class, when Ben read out a story about a boa constrictor called Eric who ate a Shetland pony. Michael noticed. Nearly thirty years later, Season One is the two of them working it out in public. Funny, unguarded and useful, with beginners especially welcome.

Dr Benjamin Matthews
Ben is a copywriter turned academic, with about 25 years as a professional writer behind him. He always secretly wanted to write science fiction and fantasy, and now gets up at 5:30 every morning to work on a science fiction novel before work. He is co-host of Ben & Mike's Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing Adventures.
Dr Michael Sala
Michael is a literary novelist published by Text Publishing. One February he decided to try writing fantasy for a month; eight years later, his epic fantasy Gods of the Hollow Wild is the first of a three-book deal. He is co-host of Ben & Mike's Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing Adventures.
